She appeared at Hartfield Magistrate Court in Pretoria today, 26 March 2021.
She penned a heart-warming post on Instagram thanking her family and friends for the support.
“What an emotional journey this has been especially for me and my kids. I thank God for giving me the strength to stand up for myself during the most difficult time of my life and also I thank my legal team for making sure that justice has been served lastly I want to thank my family, friends, and everyone who supported me and kept me in their prayers. “
She encouraged all the women who are facing the same situation to keep fighting for their rights.
“To all women out there who are going through a similar situation, don’t give up. Wear your crown, keep on standing and fight for your rights and don’t only do it for yourself but do it for other voiceless women,” she wrote.
The Hawks arrested Norma last year in July for damaging a car worth over R3-million own by her ex-husband the former minister of finance Melusi Gigaba.
Last month, the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled that her arrest was unlawful.
According to IOL, Norma’s legal team indicated that they were finalising the court papers so she could sue the state and also for her to get her dignity back.
In her exclusive interview with eNCA late last year, Norma revealed that Gigaba used to include her in a statement without her concern, she also revealed that the former minister was addicted to porn.
"For him, it's a fantasy. He will go and sleep with that person and people will catch feelings and then, Malusi is gone. People will then start reacting [saying], "you used me. I'm going to tell your wife," she told the publication.
Norma is currently trending on Twitter as South Africans are celebrating her victory.
Twitter user Aubrey tweeted: “Norma mngoma is being represented by the legal eagle advocate Dali mpofu. there is no way the NPA was going to secure a conviction in a 'cooked (framed) case. The was never any prospects of success in this baseless, inconclusive matter... Norma Mngoma should sue for defamation.”
“Thank you @AdvDali_Mpofu SC for successfully representing Norma Mngoma, with your high-level legal experience, the case is withdrawn,” tweed @IamBrianKhumalo.
