South African music fans cracked Milk + Cookies’ online clue campaign, with festival organisers confirming on Friday that British soul star Olivia Dean will headline the next Milk + Cookies Festival in South Africa.
The Man I Need hitmaker is scheduled to begin her South African dates at Sandringham Farm in Cape Town on 29 January 2027, before heading to Johannesburg’s Nasrec Expo Centre for a performance on 31 January.
Milk + Cookies spent several weeks building anticipation around its unidentified main act on social media, sparking widespread fan theories. Many listeners correctly predicted that Dean would top the bill.
Dean will arrive in Mzansi during a major moment in her career, following the success of her second album, The Art of Loving. The record helped secure her the 2026 Grammy Award for Best New Artist, alongside four BRIT Awards.
Although she has released just two full-length studio projects, the singer has quickly become one of Britain’s most exciting and distinctive emerging voices in recent years.
Olivia tops the women-led lineup revealed so far. South African R&B favourite Elaine, amapiano star Zee Nxumalo, Chelsea Sloan and Jade T have also been announced as supporting performers.
Celebrated for booking artists who move across musical boundaries, Milk + Cookies continues to stand behind its guiding slogan: “Never the same sound, always the same feeling.”
The festival hosted US rapper Gunna earlier this year, after bringing DJ KAYTRANADA to South Africa in 2025 for its first local edition.
Explaining the festival’s approach, Milk + Cookies’ head of marketing said: “Never the same sound, always the same feeling. That’s the only brief we’ve ever had. We book for the people in the room, not for a genre, and they come for what the room feels like as much as the name on the poster.”
The marketing chief added: “Three years in, that’s what South Africa has given us. We came here to put on a show and ended up building something with the people who live here, and it’s changed how we do this everywhere else.”
Fans hoping to hear Lady Lady in person can now pre-register for tickets at milkandcookiesfestival.com/registration.
Ticket pre-sales open on Wednesday, 28 October, at 10:00 am SAST. General sales will then begin on Friday, 30 October, through Howler for both the Cape Town and Johannesburg events.
