All was not glitz and glam at the 12th Annual Metro FM Music Awards held this past weekend at the International Convention Centre in Durban (23.02.13).
Only a few zalebrities that were invited actually showed up to the hotels Metro FM had booked them into, let alone Durban. The media and zalebrities who attended arrived in Durban on Friday (22.02.13) only to be left without dinner or details of the Metro FM Awards Pre-Party.
“Flights were mixed up and some invited guests had to drive down to Durban because of Metro’s jumble on confirmation and flights” said local designer Ephraim Molingoana.
On the black carpet Minnie Dlamini looked fabulous! Miss SA Teen, Celeste Khumalo, was her date, quickly settling the dust around who was going to be Minnie’s date for the night.
Thembi Seete was another ‘best dressed’ candidate. She wore a black and white number, created by every zalebs favourite designer Gert-Johan Coetzee.
Arthur Mofokate had everyone talking after the show about the abrupt speech he made when he received his award. Mofokate initially wasn’t going to be at the awards but surprised everyone when he stood up from the SABC invited guest section to receive his award, creating a bit of drama for the presenters.
At the Metro FM after party, fashion designer Reggie Star and popular blogger Olwethu Mlotshwa had trouble with an unknown drunk guy who threw drinks on the two, sparking a verbal argument and hands been thrown in the air. The bouncers swiftly stepped in before the real drama started.
Khanyi Mbau and Tebogo Lerole where spotted arriving late to the awards and left the after party early, along with other zalebrities like Phat Joe, Zizo Beda, Mafikizolo, Khuli Chana, Donald and a few other Metro Music Award winners.
