The moment we’ve all been patiently waiting for has finally arrived.
MTV Base announced their Hottest South African MC for 2015!
This year, the prestigious crown went to Cassper Nyovest. We saw this coming – the rapper has achieved a lot this year and made history after becoming the first South African musician to have a soldout show at the Ticket Pro Dome (20 000 people).
The second part of the show aired on Friday afternoon and judging by the reaction on social media, some people are not impressed. The roundable discussion had a panel of some of the entertainment industry’s most respected personalities including Tbo Touch and Loyiso Gola.

Forget Filling Up The Dome and endorsements, AKA is still the better rapper lyrically, and that needs to be known #BaseHottestMC

#BaseHottestMC shows that rappers need to up their BUSINESS INTELLECT. Brand yourself well, get those business deals, make social noise!

But after all they all said the Super Mega is better lyrically. Otherwise we don’t care about your list. ✌✌ #BaseHottestMC

The hottest mc is weak lyrically and in style. What makes a rapper actually? Isn’t style and lyrics? Not making followers #BaseHottestMC

Not to take away anything from AKA, but Cass did more for SA Hip Hop according to the #BaseHottestMC criteria. Congrats Mr. Nyovest.
