The inaugural Just Curious Award ceremony took place in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, on Saturday, where Khumalo unashamedly represented her nomination in the ‘Worst Kept Celebrity Secret of 2013’ category.
Khumalo received a nomination for her much-publicised affair with married Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa, alongside celebrity couples Bonang Matheba and Euphonik, and rapper AKA and DJ Zinhle for their respective relationships, with the latter pair announced the winners.
Rumoured to be carrying Senzo’s child, Khumalo raised eyebrows when she arrived at the ceremony wearing an outfit comprised of a white pencil skirt and tube top with a trailing lace lower half, which was split in the middle and proudly exposed her growing belly.
Although opinion about the troubled singer’s revealing ensemble varies, celebrity blogger and founder of the Just Curious gossip website, Lelo Boyana, has praised Khumalo for her bold choice.
“I feel Kelly’s outfit was perfect and I think that she was trying to put the whole pregnancy drama to rest by showing off her baby bump,” Boyana told the Sowetan.
Also in favour of the outfit is fashion designer Paledi Segapo, who says it’s in line with the current fashion trends followed by the stars.
Commending Khumalo for her fashion savvy, he told the publication that high-profile international celebrities are also going for the “see-through and alluring look” at the moment.
“It shows that she is comfortable and proud of her pregnancy,” Segapo added.
