DJ Sbu is one of the most talented South African personalities this country has ever seen. The radio/club DJ is also an accomplished musician as well as a fantastic producer. The Metro FM DJ, whose real name is Sibusiso Leope, was recognized for his talents at the Vukani Annual Fashion Awards in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Sbu, along with the likes of Thandiswa Mazwai and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela were presented with African Pride Awards.
Both Leope and Mazwai were available at the occasion, while Madikizela-Mandela was presented to by Gwen Mahlangu.
As per Sonwabile Ndamase, the founder of the Vukani Annual Fashion Awards, the African Pride Award is given to somebody who embodies African brilliance, whether it is through their individual dress sense or as the result of excellence in their respective field.
The beneficiaries of the award are to have local and universal impact on their communities and be great examples to the Yout to have a local and universal impact on people in general, and be good examples to the youth. There is very little doubt that DJ Sbu is as deserving as anybody else of an African Pride Awards; well done Sibusiso!
