Editor's Di-Section: Chris Brown's Possible Quitting

If Tweets are to be believed, Chris Brown may be retiring very soon. The RnB singer's next album, 'X', which is sceduled for release on the 20th of August, could be his last, judging from the tweets that Brown posted yesterday.

He tweeted:

Don't worry Mainstream America, After this X Album It'll probably be my last album.

As if this wasn't enough of a bombshell, he further added:

"Being famous is amazing when it’s for your music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I’m cool & over it!"

LET ME BEGIN BY SAYING: Chris Brown is an exceptionally talented human being. He's an incredible vocalist, dancer and visual artist. He's better looking than I'll ever be. There, I said it.

But Chris, please give me a break. We've heard the "This will probably be my last album" line, from other artists several times, and I don't think Chris' is any more convincing than, say, Jay Z's? It smacks of yet another publicity stunt/sympathy plea, as millions of #TeamBreezy girls hop onto twitter and beg him to keep making music.

Moving on to the next part of his "announcement" Chris says he is tired of "Being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18..."

Erm. Without wanting to kiss some ass here, he's famous because of his unquestionable talent. However, people aren't going to suddenly forget about his ‘mistake,’ and rightly so, in my opinion. Again, it strikes me as a bit of attention seeking, hoping people jump to his defense and claim "No Chris, we love you for your music!"

Mistake? Are you Sure?As for his 'mistake,' the Rihanna incident has been talked of to death. Let me just say that I believe in mistakes and second chances. I believe that you can accidentally hurt somebody you care for, and that sometimes a second chance is warranted. I do not believe that you can punch a woman with a closed fist, ram her face into a car and bite her fingers (?!) by mistake. Regrettable actions? Definitely. Mistakes? Not to me, mate.

I'm no expert on publicity management, but I can think of 3 things that could probably help you deal with all the bad heat you're still getting about this incident Chris.

The Chris Brown Guide to Overcoming Negative Criticism

1. Don't get visually disturbing tattoos that could be interpreted in the wrong way entirely (I don't care what anybody says, it looks like a beaten woman's face.)

2. Stop talking about it yourself.

3. DON'T do it in the first place!

So if he really does retire, I really will not miss him, and I don't think I'm alone. THE incident made me lose respect for the man, but I have even less of it for him following the manner in which he's reacted to the publicity in the months and years that have followed. He says he's sorry but has he acted it? Choosing to take advantage of the negative heat to transform himself into a media hating 'bad boy' and of course, committing to disturbing actions such as getting THAT tattoo.

More than anything, I don't think Chris Brown is of entirely stable mental health. I also don't think he hates being reminded of his 'mistake' as much as he says he does. I think he RELISHES in the negative attention and uses it to advance his career in any way possible and, ultimately,  keep people talking about him.

But then again, that's Showbiz, right?
