According to Sowetan, the comedian’s wife, Lerato Gaanakgomo was left ‘shocked’ and ‘confused’ when she learnt about the rumoured engagement from the Sunday papers. It didn’t help asking her beau – who she has been living with for nine years- about it, as he allegedly stormed out of the house and did not return to sleep at home.
“I am just as confused as everybody else because I saw it yesterday [Sunday] afternoon. I do not know anything. He had nothing to say about it – because it’s a lie, I would say,” Lerato told Sowetan.
She revealed: “He [Eugene] did not want to explain and just left. He did not sleep at home last night.”
She also goes on to explain why this is confusing: “…last year…he left for a couple of months after a long fight. He came back in December and if he is engaged, I do not know when that happened because he has been living with me.”
Meanwhile, in the other camp, Boity has denied the engagement rumours, insisting that her relationship with Khoza is strictly platonic. However, a source close to Boity told the newspaper that she is indeed engaged to Eugene. “It’s true. They are just throwing people away from the scent. She started wearing his ring in December but it was too sudden in my eyes and no one can really say anything when people have feelings for each other.”
