This week Zalebs was lucky enough to speak to Howza, the host of the newest season of the popular Bar One Man Hunt. We also discussed his new band, the Peanut Gallery, and what we can look forward to hearing from them.
What can one expect from the Bar One Man hunt launch that's happening next week Friday?
The launch will basically be an introduction to the 16 contestants who will be starring in the Bar One Man Hunt reality show. We’re going to be giving the media a bit of an insight on what people can expect when watching the show, but also leaving some things to the imagination until the reality series airs. We’re celebrating the 16 men and also showcasing new activities the men will be engaging in.It will not only be about the physical aspects of the competition but also the show will be testing the contestants’ characteristics, their integrity, their mental strength.
Have you met the contestants and do you think these men are worthy enough to be on the show?
I have met all of the contestants but obviously when you enter such a competition you’re going to meet different contenders and their all different beings gifted in their own special way.But it’s also all about who has the ideal blue print to compete on the Bar One Man Hunt show.
Is this the first time hosting the Bar One Man Hunt show?
Yes it is, and a part of me would’ve loved to be a part of the contestants because there are some activities they’ll be engaging in that I would definitely enjoy doing, without a doubt.
As a kwaito star many are surprised by your humility and just your endearing nature as a family man. Does that ever bother you that people get so surprised at this side of your personality?
You know it’s cool for people to not know everything about you because as a musician that only means that you have more leverage and more mileage in the game.I prefer people to know me for my work and not for my personal life so if there are constant questions about whom I am that only works in my favour so as to stay longer in this game.
Could you tell us more about your own band The Peanut Gallery too?
I like that question because its relevant to what i'm currantly working, Yes i've started a band and we do call ourselves the Peanut Gallery we're a very diverse group. The band has a combination of many genres from rock, pop soul and hip hop because my band members are from that particular background of those genres and for me personally i do not want to be put in a box and be called a kwaito artist becuase I'm a musician first and foremost and what ever music I produce does not need to be classified. So in terms of The Peanut Gallery people can consider as the South African version of the Black Eyed Peas, we have myself as the rapper and singer and then we have a white lady who can rap and is also an amazing vocalist, we basically borrowing from each and every genre to produce something authentic although nothing is authentic nowadays
