No Ordinary Guy – the first release off rising local star, Mathew Gold’s anticipated new album, The Rush, has finally hit digital space.
No Ordinary Guy has not only reached number 1 on the 5FM Top 40 but the single from his much anticipated album The Rush is causing waves on the Kia Take 40 (currently sitting on a cool No 4) on Highveld Stereo and KFM.
Mathew hit Gold (haha) when he featured South Africa’s Hip Hop prince and award winning rapper AKA on the single. The dashing dreadlocked artist took it up a notch and proved how serious he was about his craft by bringing in SAMA nominated producer Ben Peters to hop on board and produce the track which draws influence from some of the greatest electronic hip hop artists and producers. The Rush is set to be released in September and features productions by Crazy White Boy, Jusin Denobrega, AKA, Mr Sakitumi, The Kiffness, David Jones and GoodLuck.
If you ever wondered who’s smooth and dreamy vocals were laced on GoodLuck’s Taking it Easy single you need not wonder anymore because it was Mathew Gold beautiful voice that capitulated the song to become one of South Africa’s top 10 tracks of 2011.
The buzz around the Gold and his new album has caught the attention of major label Soul Candi who have just signed Gold’s The Rush joining the likes of Mi CaSa, Kent, Euphonik, Crazy White Boy, Thibo Tazz and many more in the star studded roster.
