Idols SA Season 12 auditions are currently underway, and it looks like things have gotten off to a crazy start.
The judges are on to the next city this week, after a dramatic first audition phase in Durban.
An 18-year-old contestant from KwaMashu fainted after she was told she did not make the cut.
She had to be carried out of the Durban Playhouse by Gareth, while Unathi assisted.
Bet they were glad they were forced to take Gareth back!
Fainting drama aside, the show’s judges are having bucket loads of fun behind the scenes.
Unathi gets “high” on helium
Last season Unathi brought her A-game in the wardrobe department, but it looks like she just might better her fab outfits from season 11. We love the white skirt and cropped top she wore for the Durban auditions. She also seems to be having a lot of fun behind the scenes. The musician could not stop laughing after inhaling helium from a balloon – which gave her a very funny singing voice.

Somizi ups the style stakes
Choreographer Somizi added some much needed humour to the show last year, when he joined the Idols SA judges’ table. He’s back again and fans can no doubt look forward to his crazy shenanigans once again. Like Unathi, he is ready to serve fashion fierceness, and like last season, the BFFs are colour coordinating their outfits! Can Randall Abrahams and Gareth Cliff get the memo as well guys?

Gareth happy to be back
Speaking of Gareth, the radio DJ is all smiles on set, despite his recent axing (and rehiring) by M-Net! No drama or animosity here people, just one big happy Idols SA family.

Randall…not so happy
Another Idols season, another year Randall Abrahams refuses to put a smile on his face. Sigh, we might need The Joker to turn that frown upside down.
