Isibiya full-throttles into soapie land

It’s been a great run for local Telenovela Isibaya since its launch in March 2013. Many South African families have spent each week glued to their television screens to see what would transpire between the Zungu and Ndlovu family.  The Isibaya fans have been distressed in the past two weeks as this month was previously set to mark show’s end with the last few episodes of the show airing. However, all of you avid Isibayans  need not worry anymore as Mzansi Magic has decided to not leave Isibaya fans in the lurch and has now official commissioned the series into a full-on soapie.

From the 17th of March the how will be broadcasted for five days now instead of four every week on Mzansi Magic during the primetime slot of 20:30p.m.

“The response to Isibaya has been fantastic; viewership exceeded the expectations we had when we launched in March 2013.  We are thrilled to now be able to offer our viewers a dose of Isibaya every weekday as the show enters a new era.”- said Yolisa Phahle, Channel Director of M-Net’s general entertainment channels.

Isibaya has provided South African television with a storyline that is filled with villains, rivalry, power, money and of course love.  It’ll be interesting to see which direction the story will take since now becoming a soapie and becoming a regular part of viewers’ lives. On a day dominated by the Oscar trial, it feels good to hear something a little different
