Just how broke is Tso Vilakazi?

Former Orlando Pirates football player Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi is said to have moved back into his family home after his career took a nosedive.

According to the Daily Sun, the 32-year-old midfielder is currently living with his parents in their four-bedroom house in Diepkloof, Soweto, but is apparently struggling to fit in and feeling ashamed.

The publication quotes an anonymous insider who has known the football star since childhood, who said: “Tso is embarrassed to walk the streets as people are mocking him. They’re laughing at his downfall and he also feels bad about it.”

Tso apparently tends to stay indoors most of the time, emerging every now and then to ask friends for R2,50 so he can buy a loose cigarette, and a neighbour said: “He drinks quarts and is no longer that famous person we knew.”

“A neighbour told him he should just be a taxi driver as most guys in the area are taxi drivers. If he doesn’t take his life seriously, he’ll end up doing illegal stuff. And if you want to see how terrible he looks, come to Zone 2,” claimed another neighbour.

Tso, however, when approached for comment seemed less ashamed of his fall from grace than these sources claim, and insisted that he isn’t resting on his laurels.

He said: “People will always judge you despite anything you do. People will always talk and say whatever about me but as long as my family is okay, I don’t have a problem. I’m working towards my goals.”
