Katlego Maboe and Roxy Burger will be hosting the upcoming season of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Gossip website The Juice has revealed that ‘Expresso’ presenter and singer Katlego and bubbly former ‘K-TV’ presenter Roxy are taking over from last year’s hosting team of Marc Lottering and Pabi Moloi.
According to the website, the list of celebrities who will be taking part in the seventh season of the popular international dance show is set to impress, with controversial socialite Khanyi Mbau and hunky TV presenter Jonathan Boynton-Lee two of the names being whispered in the grapevine.
The Juice quotes an insider, who said: “There are some really big celeb names taking part this year and everybody knows that it’s going to be the season that is going to blow the others away.”
The names of all the celebrities and their respective dance partners will, however, be officially announced during an event in Sandton on Thursday night, 26 June.
Actress Zakeeya Patel was last year announced winner of the show, for which a host of South African celebrities are paired up with professional Latin and Ballroom dancers, who teach them a variety of difference dances.
Every week the public votes for their favourite couple, before the duo with the least votes are eliminated.
Television journalist Thinus Ferreira quotes the head of SABC3, Aisha Mohamed, who said of the new season: “We’ve spent a lot of time on who our presenters will be, who the celebrity dancers will be, what kind of music will be selected for the show, what kind of sets we’re looking for, the kind of artists that are performing in-between, simply because we want to set a tone.
“We simply want to bring Strictly Come Dancing back to what it was, which is a really beautiful show.”
Previous celebrity winners include Rob van Vuuren, Emmanuel Castis, HHP, Zuraida Jardine and Riaan Venter.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ season seven kicks off on SABC3 at 8:30pm on Friday, 18 July 2014.
