Well what do we have here? It’s always interesting to see where people’s political loyalties lie as soon as national elections approach. Back in the day, one’s political affiliation used to be regarded as top secret information and nobody would ever dream of revealing their political interests. That was until Obama came around and made it cool to go cast your vote. Since then, many of us, as well our favourite celebrities, have had no problem declaring which political party we're voting for.
We could be worng here, but would you not say that the ANC knows a thing or two about pop-culture? The way they've used celebs to lure us into being more involved in political elections backs up this statement. Some of the countries hottest acts are not so much showing their political affiliation as they are flaunting it religiously.
For instance, it wasn't too long ago but it was before the election rallies even took place. AKA presented V-entertainment wearing a rather swagged out ANC t-shirt. Not bad Mr AKA, not bad.
It's not really a surprise that he's involved with ANC, considering he's rallied behind them from the get-go, but DJ Sbu has managed to get his TS Team on board the ANC Band wagon as well as- wait! Is that Kwaito God-father Mdu on the far right? ANC really does have some support, wow!
Even DR Malinga is involved in the rallies. The excitable singer loves a bit of green in his outfits and perhaps that was ANC's motivating factor in recruiting him. Regardless, he's in all green rallying the troops like some of his other celebrity counterparts and ensuring that everybody knows who has got his vote.
Lulo Cafe also recently tweeted this picture of him and the legendary Arthur Mafokate (Sorry we're not sure who the guy in the middle is!) with the caption:
"Arrived at my 3rd gig for the day...by 8pm I'm a free man #ThankYouANC"
Thank you ANC indeed, seems like the party not only understands local pop-cutlure but they're not too bad at "feeding" our celebrities too.
