The 2016 Metro FM Awards nominees announcement which took place on the 14th of January surprised many when the organizers announced that each nominee would walk away with R100,000 should they win an award.
The news of this announcement sent excitement throughout the South African music industry as artists waited in baited breath to find out if they were nominated.
Before the announcement were made, ZAlebs caught up with Cassper Nyovest to hear what he thought about the R100,000 grand prize. He said:
“Yeah man I wish they could’ve given us R100,000 last year, I would’ve walked out with half a million you know what I mean! But I think this year it just makes everything a bit more competitive when there’s money. I think it might also make it a bit ugly, people might not play fair.”
Luckily for Cassper, he bagged himself three nominations so his faith in possibly winning the R100,000 has been restored.
