Monde Msutwana chats exclusively to ZAlebs about his brand new single, “Anything Is Possible”…
Did you co-write Anything is Possible with anyone?
I actually wrote the song by myself and just got my emotions flowing. I had the idea of the song, as in the chorus and structure, since 2009 but at that time I hadn’t written any solid lyrics for it. I just recently began writing the lyrics and here we are four years later with a fully-fledged single! Because of my experiences on Idols, writing the lyrics became second nature to me.
Who’s the producer of the track because it has a definite house influence?
Yes, the song has a very Deep House influence to it. I worked with a very talented producer who goes by the name of Brendan Jury who is actually a film music producer and writer. He’s written for TV programmes like Inside Story and Intersexions as well as the 2010 World Cup. While I was writing the song we thought of using some House instrumentals to diversify it. We didn’t only want a groovy song but rather, song that was able to convey a message to the masses.
Are you in the process of making a full length album?
Yes I’m currently busy with my album; I think i will be done hopefully by the end of April. I want to make it a ten track album but I just can’t stop writing! So with the songs I don’t complete, I’ll place them into my second album.
Is there going to be a possible collaboration between you and your former idols competitors?
On this album I’ve decided to work just with Brendan Jury. For now, I’d like to establish my sound before I bring other musicians on board. Sometimes I feel musicians compromise their talent by opening themselves up to collaborate with many other artists. What I’m looking at is finding my own musically identity with this first album and for the public to understand and recognise my sound.
