Nandos heats up Generation scandal

The popular Portuguese-style eatery has over the years become known for its humorous, witty advertising campaigns, which often draws upon current affairs for inspiration. The South African franchise of the restaurant chain on Tuesday grabbed at the chance to bring a bit of light-heartedness to controversial mass dismissal.

The restaurant on Tuesday afternoon tweeted a picture of a poster which reads: “Dear Mfundi leave the firing to us. We’ve been flame grilling for generations.”

Succeeding in their task of making some upset fans crack the faintest of smiles, many Twitter users managed to see the funny side.

“Give this Marketing team a Bells,” tweeted one user.

“lol… ja what a shame tho 16 kids wont be getting Strips, Corn and Dip for a while…. lol…” wrote another.

And while the response was mostly positive, there has inevitably those who find it unacceptable, such as this stern ‘Generations’ fan who wrote: “Funny ad, but inappropriate. You don’t joke bout people’s struggles. Families are affected.”
