Local chicken outlet Nando’s is practically an institution with its television ads, which often poke fun at current affairs and trends. Its take on the famous new Old Spice ads was no different, having a go at the “I’m on a Horse” ad series, punting their famous chicken dishes in place of diamonds.

Old Spice wasn’t going to take this lying down, but instead of getting nasty it got even and released an image on its Facebook page featuring the actor Isaiah Mustafa holding a can of Old Spice and straddling a television busy playing the Nando’s ad. Channel24 reports that it followed that with another image, this time making fun of Nando’s’ copycat ways by featuring an actor in a chicken suit holding an Old Spice product. Check it out here.
Last year Santam responded to a Nando’s parody of one of its ads by challenging the company to donate food to the Johannesburg Children’s Home. Nando did, and proceeded to do so on every last Friday of the month for a year.
