Pearl Thusi gives back

I don’t know about you, but in my opinion, the only thing better than receiving is giving. Maybe you don’t agree, but I know of someone who would.

TV/radio personality, Pearl Thusi, has decided to do her bit for her fans by giving back. The star started the Halo Campaign a while back, but only recently had the resources to follow through with her plan to uplift young ladies. She told The Sowetan, “Halo started before my life became what it is today.” She added, “I started a Facebook group a few years ago but I was broke back then and I recently revived it and started a page on Facebook.”

Thusi’s vision was to empower women, and with the help of DJ Zinhle, that’s exactly what she plans on doing. “I was chatting to Zinhle one day in the TV studio and joked about going to her DJ school. That’s how the idea for the Halo Campaign came about,” says Thusi.

According to Pearl, there are not enough female DJ’s in South Africa – another motivation for this campaign.

The Halo Campaign runs on Facebook where aspiring female DJ’s are given the opportunity to shine. All you have to do is post a motivation which includes a set-list of 10 songs you would mix. Applicants then gain votes by friends and fans which will earn them recognition by the judges. The winners will then earn a sponsorship to a DJ school.

Two winners will be announced on the 21st November.
