The fashion show must go on
The on and off rain, blistering cold and the fainting of a young model were just some of the omens that The Fashion by the Sea event faced at Moyo on the Pier at uShaka Marine World last night.
The attempt to host the event for the second time nearly become a 'no-show' thanks to the rain once again but thankfully, after a 30 minute break it stopped and allowed the show to go on. However, some big name designers such as David Tlale and Gavin Rajah were absent from the event but it was a fashion show that Funsunzis will always remember for the drama before the show.
Themed ‘Fashion Meets Music’, it featured big names such as, Duke, Kathrin Kidger; Dax Martin; Karen Monk-Klijnstra; Zarth and C-Squared as well as seven of the exciting young designers who were selected for internships in Milan, during last year’s Durban Fashion Fair.
Karla Lortan of Karla Lortan, Amanda Van Tonder of VTON International, Treasure Cindi of House of Treasure Cindi, Sandile Mlambo of House of Alfalfa, Shaun Dugen of Nguni Shades, Mxolisi Mkhize of House of St Luke and Miles Lutuli of Lutuleigh are the young designers who also showcased their fabulous ranges.
Some patrons did leave when the rain came pelting down but despite the wet scenario, fashionistas loved the gorgeous designs by the House of Alfafa, Treasure Cindi's sequinced range and Zarth's stunning array of evening gowns. All in all the event was fabulous and the organisers were relieved that the show finally went on!
