Since last year’s Redds Experience party was one of the most outlandish and most talked about parties of the year; we had high expectations for this year’s party. It was a star-studded affair as we had the pleasure of sharing this experience with unworldly beauties like Carmel Fischer and Boity, as well as cool cats such as Andile Ncube and the stylish, Mika Stefano. The company alone promised to make the night a memorable one, but could Redds deliver on all the expectation they had created?
Yes.
We were promised an “Out of this world” completely “Sensory” experience, and in all fairness, that is exactly what was delivered. The Redds Experience, held at the Sandon Convention Centre, housed 1000 lucky ticket recipients and got everybody in the mood with tasty canapés, great DJs and musicians; as well as, of course, an abundance of Redds.
Redds managed to debut their newest flavor, Redds Bold Crisp. The new flavor is served in a green bottle that, on the night, lit up to illuminate the party. At several points all you could see was the Green light hovering in, what appeared to be darkness. As if the bottle wasn’t cool enough already, at random intervals it FLICKERED; much to the excitement of many!
As much of a high light (No pun intended) as the Bold Crisp bottle was, it was eclipsed by the true marvel of the night. At (seemingly) random intervals, the party transformed into a massive parade transporting everybody to another country. The fun began with an American themed parade, kitted with drumline soundtracks, giant balloons and even American Cheerleaders. On cue, the canapés changed from being standard snacks to typical American Hotdogs and burgers.
Shortly afterwards we were teleported to London, England, as an Austin Powers inspired, British Parade took over the scenes, before we were served Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash.
The parade that really took the cake was the Brazilian parade. It was almost as if we were in Rio for Carnaval (Hmm, sounds familiar?) As samba dancers and passionate drummers enraptured the Sandton Convention Centre.
The night was rounded off by some fabulous performances by some of SA's leading acts including Newton's Second Law, DJ Classy Menace, and hip hop star, Da L.E.S.
The party was, for the lack of a better description, unreal. We weren’t the only ones who thought so either. We asked local Zalebs what they thought of the event.
Anele: This party is lots of fun! [Of all the parades, which has been the best?] Oh Rio! I love London, because I’m a bit of a Bri’ish girl, but Rio! It was crazy! We go to parties all the time, which are always the same, this has been more than a party, it’s been an experience!
Pearl Thusi: It’s been an amazing Party; I’ve had a lot of fun tonight. Of all the cities, the one I’ve loved the most is JOHANNESBURG! Durban is my home, but JHB is my City!
Andile Ncube: I think this event has been great, it’s a unique concept, it’s completely different and I’m definitely enjoying it. I’m looking forward to whatever else comes up tonight.
Redds, we take our hats off to you for throwing an incredible party. We can be absolutely certain that this will be a tough act to follow for everybody in the events industry.
Look out for our Redds Experience Gallery, as well as footage from the event, later today.
