Upfront with Zakes Bantwini

June sees the return of Zakes Bantwini’s Upfront concert in Durban. Fans of the musical mogul have been warned not to miss out on this musical experience. This year’s theme will pay tribute to the youth of South Africa.

Bantwini will perform Jazz renditions and tracks from his latest album Love, Light and Music. According to Zakes, fans can expect “funky house interpretations of old styles, mixed together with new sounds, perfectly acknowledging the past and experimenting with innovative arrangements.”

The concert will also feature acts such as 2012 Idols SA winner Khaya Mthethwa, L’vovo Derrango, DJ Black Coffee and Themba Mkhize who will make a guest appearance with Bantwini on stage.

“I’m so excited to bring my show home and give my loyal Durbanites the experience of Upfront with Zakes Bantwini – I know this is going to be one of my best performances to date. I’m also exceptionally passionate about the youth of our country and have dedicated this show and performance to them – they are the future of our nation,” said Zakes.

Zakes is set to perform with Team Zakes the recent Clash of the Choirs television series team who lost to Team Khaya who reigned supreme as the winners of the competition. Team Zakes will perform Redemption Song - the song which got them the top three position.

Apparently Zakes has specifically requested that fans attending the concert should come fully dressed in their school uniforms.

“I want the youth of South Africa to be proud to be attending school and the same goes for those who have completed their education – let’s wear our uniforms with pride.”

Tickets for the concert will be available for pre-purchase at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers for R150 each.

Date: 14 June
