So when I first read that Rihanna had released a song featuring Paul McCartney and Kanye West, my first thought was “Is Paul Bored?”
The Beatles legend can collaborate with just about any superstar in the world (Scratch that, LITERALLY any superstar in the world) but he’s decided to work with hip hop inclined artists. Not that there’s anything wrong with collaborating with hip hop inclined artists, I just find it a little curious, more than anything else. First there was the collaboration with Yeezy, on their track Only One and now he’s featuring (Again, with Mr West) on Rihanna’s new jam, Four Five Seconds.
So it’s been 24 hours and we’ve had a good opportunity to listen to this track, and I have to say I like it. It’s catchy and warm; the acoustic strumming in the background is delightful. The sing-a-long feel to the chorus reminds me of those moments when we’ve all had too much to drink, someone picks up a guitar and everybody joins in to the part they all know the words to.
I don’t really know why Kanye’s singing so much though. Didn’t we get enough of Yeezy’s vocals on 808’s and Heartbreaks? Rihanna, meanwhile, held her part down quite well. Check out the Lyric video for Rihanna’s Four Five Seconds below!
