Criselda and Siyolo Dudumashe have taken their love story public.

Criselda Dudumashe has nothing but wonderful things to say about her husband, Siyolo Dudumashe. The couple, who tied the knot in June, recently shared their love story on IsiXhosa radio station Umhlobo Wenene FM.

Speaking on the station on Sunday, Siyolo said they met back in 2009 at a work event. "I even said her name wrong, I called her Cassandra. I remembered that I had seen her face before, but I was not sure from which radio station. I think for me it was love at first sight, the minute you get goosebumps you just know that this is the one."

He said he approached Criselda and introduced himeslf. "I think from there the the rest is history." He said he went and did his research about her and that reading about her story didn't change anything. "When I found out about her story I realised that her life wasn't easy and she deserves to be happy. Every year on her birthday I'd tell her 'you deserve happiness'."

They kept in contact and Siyolo would send her a message every year on her birthday. "He would send me a message to tell me that he knows he's supposed to make me happy," Criselda said.

She explained that they were engaged within six weeks of dating, and were married within three months. On why he proposed, Siyolo said: "I proposed because I saw the type of person that she is and I saw her heart. Beauty alone doesn't work..."

Criselda has promised to always keep Siyolo smiling. She said when they got married, the instruction was to light a candle and say their vows every month. "You have no idea what that does for a relationship. It unites you and it renews your love..."

She added that what keeps their relationship going is that they say they love each other.
