We see you badly dressed ZAlebs and it’s time you check yourself before you wreck yourself. Take this as an act of tough love and constructive criticism, (and I say this with love) its time you get a stylist. Here are resident style guru, Miss Buttons, top fashion offenders.
She’s no stranger to “Worst Dressed” lists and even goes by the nickname, ‘The Mad Hatter’. Who else could be my number one candidate other than Jen Su? Bless her cotton socks but the media Madame never, ever, seems to get it right. Every time I see her flaunting a new over the top and completely inappropriate hat, with a matching satin blouse or jacket (always in offensive sunshiny colours) it just breaks my heart. There’s just always so much going on that it detracts from the fact that Jen Su is actually one foxy lady. Let me tell you, Jen Su has it going on. All she has to do is tone down the chaos, simplify her wardrobe and stop with the hats. There’s no doubt she’ll be a showstopper with her natural elegance and grace.
My next subject, Liezel Van Der Westhuizen, is someone I thought was simply a lost cause. As it turns out she’s another hottie hiding behind bad style choices. Let’s be honest, how many people can carry off the pixie hair cut? Twiggy, Kate Moss, Agnes Deyne, Wionna Ryder and the list of A-List stars goes on. Would you try it? I know there’s no way I would and I definitely would not pull it off, at all, even in the slightest. Did you see what she wore to the J&B Met this year? I don’t get it. Someone help her, she’s trying but all she needs to do is rough up a little, be yourself, Liezel. Wear a pair of jeans once in a while. Try an animal print loafer. Please stop with the glitzy stuff, there’s too much sequin on you and it doesn’t suit you, let it go.
Moving on. My next gripe is when celebs insist on dressing like hoochie mammas, leaving nothing to the imagination. We get it, sex sells and so does Adele. Lady humps and bumps don’t need to be out on display for the world to see. Yes, it causes a stir and heads to turn but all the wrong kind. Poor Roxy Louw was following in their footsteps for a long while but she seems to have reined it in somewhat. She could definitely keep working at it though. Time to leave the beach at the beach, babe. Not every dress needs to look like a bikini.
On that note, Khanyi Mbau. There are no words really. Just that, bad attitude doesn’t suit anyone and diva only looks good Beyoncé.
