We love American reality shows. There is literally a show for every occasion. Whether we are studying the lives of super nannies or those of serial hoarders, we are never left with nothing to watch thanks to our fabulous Americans. The latest hit show to take the world by storm is Preachers of LA which revolves around the lives of internationally renowned preachers.
Welcome to ZAlebs.com Bishop Noel Jones, we’d like to welcome you to South Africa on behalf of the whole team!
It’s been great so far, I’ve just arrived and I’m now on my way to the Holy Ghost fire house in Mbombela. It’s been great
What do you think of our accents so far, do you understand us okay?
Yes, to a great extent actually! Except when you said ZAlebs.com you spoke a little too quickly!
For those who don’t know you so well, please tell us more about who Bishop Noel Jones is and your involvement in South Africa?
My father and mother first came to South Africa with my sister Grace. My sister was a part of the panel for the Miss World pageant and my parents fell in love with S.A. My father insisted that I come, so I became a second-generation-lover of the country as my father introduced me to this beautiful country. T-Bo Touch was a part of our family and stayed with us in New York while he was doing some schooling State side. With him and his family and their connections as well as my father’s legacy, I do whatever it takes. I’ve also worked with the Minister of Sports & Recreation, Fikile Mbalula, and we’ve created scholarships over the years. I’ve come here with the likes of Jakes. One of the reasons Mayweather and Brandy were here is because I reached out to them. I love this country!
You’ll probably have noticed that we’re a very spiritual and passionate people, we like to express ourselves. On what level would you say you’re looking forward to connecting with us the most?
I think every visit, to me, is another opportunity to help embellish the psychological disposition that South Africans have, particularly after having been in apartheid for so long. The psychological effects are significant, particularly when you’ve been suppressed, depressed, repressed and compressed for so long. It’s difficult to come alive psychologically, to gear yourself for success. I want to see people transform themselves; scripture says “By the renewing of your mind” so having a lot of enthusiasm, having a lot of drive, being very spiritual, all contribute to that renewing of the mind. I want to see those kinds of transformations take place.
On a dramatically unrelated note, we’ve heard you’re very into your cars; can we expect to see you cruising on our Highways?
Oh yes, I love my cars. I used to have a car business that imported vehicles from Germany. I have a 1980 930 turbo Porsche. Who drives a 1980 car? This one, though, will run up on a 599 Ferrari! I look forward to having a good time with that one!
