The MTV Europe Music Awards organised chaos has finally settled down, and with half of our team having returned back from the illustrious three day trip with our guest presenter Bonang. We thought it would be unfair to not give our readers a glimpse of what we got up to at the EMA’s
Upon our arrival on that Friday, ZAlebs attended the MTV Breaks Pop-ups which featured sensational English songwriter and producer Labrinth who’s causing a racket with his latest single “Jealous”. Labrinth’s name currently doesn’t carry as much weight in SA as it does across the broad; however the man has produced some great hits, some which we were not even aware he was responsible for.
During his Mtv Breaks interview Labrinth explained how songs like “Frisky” which he worked with Tinnie Tempah worked out:
“That song was crazy because I never expected to producer that kind of sound and for it to be as successful as it was, really took me by surprise. I started off as just a kid who likes producing music in his bedroom so the success of “Frisky” and my other projects was really major for me.”
What was also major for us is bumping into senior Mtv VJ Sizwe Dhlomo who was listening attentively to what Labrinth had to say, we were also surprised at how packed the venue was.
After MTV Breaks it was off to the MTV EMA pre-drinks party which were attended by two very esteemed guests one being MTV hip hop VJ and radio personality Sway as well as the MTV European Award itself. It was quite hilarious to see how people scuffled around to get their hands on one of music’s most famous music award. Almost everyone in the room wanted a picture with the Europe MTV Award, we can only imagine the madness that would’ve erupted if the MTV moon-man also made an appearance.
Look out for our ZAlebs/MTV EMA blogs coming soon to our site as we share to our experience at the MTV EMA Awards in Europe.
After the pre-drinks MTV took us to dinner where we enjoyed some quality time and food at the Red Onion restaurant. The Red Onion chef also had the pleasure of informing us that he was also Bryan Adam's chef during his heydays.
