5 – Kabelo Mabalane
Kabelo has come across as a bit of an inspiration of late. Not only has he broken his drug habit, but he has now released a book about his life, proving that moving forward is possible, regardless of the adversity you have faced. Hopefully people will take a leaf out of his book (yes, that pun was very much intended).
4 – Trevor Noah
Well, when you are demanding R3-million per appearance, you know you have made it. That is exactly what it will cost to book Mr Noah going forward, with his The Daily Show gig the reason for this. That is serious cash in South African entertainment terms, and our very own Trevor is soon going to be one very rich man. Well done!
3 – David Tlale
When it comes to touchy subjects, our celebrities generally steer well clear. However, fashion designer David Tlale has tackled the issue of township boys wanting to follow his lead head on. Traditionally, a job as a fashion designer is frowned upon in the township, but Tlale says the time is right for people to follow their dreams and steer clear of the stigmas attached to certain jobs. He directed his message at township boys. Thank you for this, David.
2 – Ntombi and Ace
You have to admire this power couple. The two keep growing and growing in the industry, and have now added a music video to their stable. The Big Brother Mzansi: Double Trouble winners are milking their fame, and they deserve credit for it – regardless of whether their music is any good, or their television show for that matter. What is next for this pair? Running for the Presidency as co-Presidents?
1 – Zahara
Going ‘Gold’ in South Africa is seen as a fantastic achievement. Going ‘Platinum’ is mind blowing. Zahara not only did the latter, but she did it in an incredible two weeks. Yes, TWO WEEKS. Wow! This songstress really has fantastic pulling power, with her fans clearly set on ensuring she succeeds in the industry. Congrats on this wonderful feat, Zahara!
