The South African entertainment industry is hardly short on talent, and with the great number of talent that is churned out every year, we’ve also sadly lost quite a number of stars.
One particular actress that comes to mind is Backstage and Generations actress Precious Simelane, who passed away in 2005 after a temporary illness.
We were reminded of Precious when fellow Backstage cast member KB posted this throwback picture of herself, Precious (on the right), and Kim Engelbrecht.
Although a far cry from her feisty Generations character – Zanele Bhengu, who tread on people’s toes and destroyed anyone who dared get in her way, Precious star was on the rise.
In a 2002, a News24 article on Precious mentioned that she was the complete opposite of her deceitful Generations character.
“I’m very different to Zanele. I would probably break down if I ever did the things she does, because I have a conscience,” she said.
Next month will mark the eleventh year since Precious passed, and may her soul rest in peace.
