Fashion designer Quiteria Kekana has sadly died after a battle with cancer. The 38-year-old who was the creative designer at Lord Quiteria lost his battle on Sunday in his home in Melville.
According to the statement announcing his death, the famed designer passed away after a short battle with cancer, “It is with profound regret and sadness that the Kekana family confirm the untimely passing of international fashion designer, son, father and brother Lebogang Quiteria Kekana, 38, after a short battle with cancer. Quiteria sadly passed away on April 17 2022 at his Melville home.”
The statement then went on to state more about the life and passing of the designer, "Quiteria leaves behind his son, his parents, siblings, family and puppy,"

In conclusion, the family asked for privacy through this difficult time, “We ask that you please keep us in your prayers. The Kekana family is deeply thankful for all the countless personal messages of love and support received thus far. The details of his memorial and funeral will be confirmed in due course.”
Quiteria rose to fame when he alongside George Malelu created the popular fashion brand, Quiteria & George. During their time as business partners, the duo managed to dress some of South Africa's biggest stars including Dineo Langa, Lerato Kganyago, and Thando Thabethe.
Their biggest break in 2018 was when the duo dressed Beyoncé in an emerald green couture gown for her Global Citizens Festival performance at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg, in December.
Unfortunately, a few months after that career-high, the designers announced that they would be going their separate ways.
In 2019 after splitting and going solo, Quiteria came back strong with a fashion brand, Lord Quiteria that caused waves within the fashion industry.
Under his new brand, Quiteria has dressed big stars which include Enhle Mbali, Nandi Mbatha, and Makhadzi.
In 2021, Sunday World reported that Quiteria suffered a financial loss due to his cancer diagnosis and that he was looking for help to remedy his situation.
Speaking to Sunday World about the impact of his condition, he reportedly stated that he was trying to remain positive not only for himself but for those that depend on him too. “It has been tough, having to think positively, work on my health and being responsible for the lives of those that I work with and their families.”
