Connie Ferguson has become a living legend in terms of actresses who have transcended from just an actress to business woman, executive producer and boss. The last year for The Queen lead has not been easy. Between loving the love of her life and losing The Queen in the same might have not been easy, but recently the star proved that there are some joys in life as she ushered 52 years on Friday, 10 June 2022.
Remembering Shona Ferguson
Losing someone is never easy. But for Connie Ferguson the death of her husband and business partner Shona Ferguson was a blow to not just her but the entire country. On 30 July 2021, South Africa was shocked when news that Sho had passed following complications after his heart surgery were confirmed. One of the most touching tributes came six months after Shona’s passing with Connie taking to her Instagram to write:
“Six months today, and not a day goes by without me talking about you! To anyone who cares to listen! You have left such a big impression of yourself on me and the girls that you are part of all our conversations. Your spirit lives on Sho, and we bless God for walking this journey with us, for strengthening us daily and comforting us in different ways, for the earthly angels who have been supportive of me and my family, physically and in prayer, for the strangers who have been praying for our healing and wellbeing.”
Losing The Queen
In March 2022, DStv confirmed the cancellation of The Queen. Initially, when news reports first speculated that the telenovela was cancelled, a surprising fact considering that The Queen was once Mzansi Magic’s most popular show, Ferguson Films denied the rumors. That is, until it was confirmed that along with Lingashoni, the telenovela would be coming to an end with their latest seasons.
A lot to celebrate
Despite gone through a lot of loss in the past year Connie Ferguson has proven that she does intend to keep her husband’s legacy alive. Whether it is the confirmation that there will be a second season of Kings of Joburg, which is currently in production.
Or the countless celebrations the star has had for her loved ones. First celebrating her father’s milestone 86th birthday in May 2022. Or celebrating her youngest daughter Ali Ferguson’s 20th birthday just days before ushering her own birthday. Conie Ferguson has proven that more than just the ShoMustGoOn, that life too does go on.
Therefore, it was only fitting that she ushered in her first birthday without her best friend, husband and pillar with a doting throwback message of what her husband said to her when he was still alive to celebrate her birthdays with her.
But Sho was not the only one to wish Connie a happy 52nd birthday. Her daughters respectively took to their social media to share their own well wishes for their mother and best friend. The touching messages were all but tear jerkers on social media as they were nostalgic but showed how the family has only become more close knit following the loss of their patriarch.
