Actor and musician Innocent Masuku rose to fame after he landed the character of Bobo in the South African teen drama series 'Yizo Yizo,” and he became a fan-favourite.

Masuku was a breathe of fresh air in the industry and his enthralling performances made him a household name. He went on to star as Maradona Khumba on Zone 14, and Baksteen Lerole on Tshisa.

While Baksteena was troublesome and a drug addict onscreen, in real life Innocent's life also took a disastrous turn after he became addicted to drugs. His absence from the spotlight has left fans wondering where he is. The actor recently revealed how his addiction affected his acting career.

Innocent gave young people advice as the Economic Freedom Fighter commemorated the Youth of 16 June 1976.  In a heartfelt message, he exhorted the youth not to follow in his footsteps and to do better in life.

“ Be careful of the choices you make. It’s amazing how time flies. Sometimes, the choices you make can cost you many opportunities,” he said.

He added that he lost many good opportunities due to his drug addiction. “When I got into the acting industry, I was involved in drugs, and I regret it because I lost so many opportunities. I lost so many friends and good things and the sad part is that I won't be able to regain that time,” he said.

The EFF member has called upon everyone to give each other a second chance and said that drug addicts must be willing to change in order to get off drugs. "Bafethu ayikho dustbin yokulahla abantu, let us come together, and help each other" he said.
His fans took to the comments section to wish him well, and said they hope he will bounce back in the industry.

“I no longer drink as much as I used," he said.

"When I started in showbiz 14 years ago I was an alcoholic, drug addict and a heavy smoker. I was a druggie for almost five years but today I’m proud to say I’ve been clean since 2007.”

He went on to add that he was spending his last cent on drugs.

“I witnessed the downfall of a lot of celebrity friends whose names I’d rather not mention,” he said.

“I used to spend every last cent on drugs when I was still starting out in the industry and I wasn’t making a lot of money," he said.
