Congratulations are in order for actress Gail Mabalane and her husband Kabelo Mabalane. The pair is celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary.
They both took to their social media platforms to pen sweet messages for each other.
Kabelo and Gail have been together for 11 years. They got married almost a decade ago. Taking to Instagram, the Rockville star said she is grateful to have Kabelo in her life.
She wrote, "Happy Anniversary my lover @kabelomabalane 🥰11yrs of togetherness…9yrs of marriage. I’m so blessed & grateful to be doing life with you. Here’s to the next 90! 🥂 To failing forward. 🥂 To our best years which are ahead of us. 🥂 143 ❤️ #GodsGrace"
Kabelo also took to his Instagram account to celebrate their special day saying, "This time 9 years ago I was getting ready to become a husband to an incredible woman. I mean just look at her😍, she’s as beautiful inside as she is outside. Exceedingly abundantly above what you might think ask or even imagine truly does exist. Happy 9th anniversary my baby @gail_mabalane"
The couple recently spoke to Drum Magazine about their marriage. They said it has not been an easy journey for them but communication has helped them.
Kabelo told the publication that they have learned to be open and honest with each other. He added, “Our marriage from the onset has been a platform and an environment conducive to talking about serious, hard issues. My wife has had to call me out on certain things and behaviours and we have had to deal with issues head-on.”
Earlier this year, the musician celebrated 20 years clean and sober. Kabelo has a history of alcohol and drug abuse. In the video that he shared on Instagram, he said he wants to use his milestone to encourage those who are also on the journey to becoming clean and sober. He also shared that abstinence is one of his important principles in this journey.
"Those of you on the journey of recovery and sobriety keep working it because it works. If you still keen for the beer taste, low calories, and managing your consumption," he said adding that if he can do it, everyone else also can," he shared.
Kabelo has also shared that he openly speaks about his past so that others can learn from it. “I’ve shared briefly about my own experience as a younger man and being a perpetrator. The importance of us having parallel conversations with my wife and everyone is for people to learn from my mistakes and avoid it happening to them and to understand that GBV is shameful and unacceptable behavior,” he told Drum.
He also told the publication that, other people do not have to go through the same things to learn. He continued, “I talk about my story for my own healing and to show others that they do not need to make the same mistakes. I come from that. I was a young and careless person at the time, and I made mistakes and others don’t need to go the same road.”
