Recently, media personality Phumeza Mdabe took to her Instagram to announce that she and her husband, Shota Mdabe were celebrating their 8 year wedding anniversary and we couldn't be any happier for them.

The two who have had quite the rough patch in their marriage journey remain to be one of Mzansi’s favorite couples and we are happy to see that they remain stronger than ever.

As you can already imagine, both Shota and Phumeza have taken to their individual Instagram accounts to gush over each other and congratulatory messages have been streaming in with many celebrating their love and wishing them more blessings even in the years to come.

On twitter, the reactions vary with many continuing to congratulate the couple and others recall how tough it has been for them so far. Many are also saying that the reason Shota fell off the music industry was so that he could work on his marriage and if that was the cost he had to pay, then it was definitely worth it.

If you can recall, Shota was part of a music group called Shana, that had him, Thandukwazi Sikhosana and even Black Coffee. Demor, and Black Coffee of course have continued to make headway in their music careers but not so much for Shota.

After their youngest child was diagnosed with eye cancer, the couple decided to withdraw from the public eye for a while so that they could give their family the attention it deserved. Still, their children remain to be their source of joy and it is a beautiful sight to see.

It was not that long ago when Phumeza took to her Twitter to share how difficult it was to break it to her son that he would never be able to see again. "Mpilo is getting new prosthetic eyes fitted soon, he screamed and said, 'I’m gonna see like everyone else.' I had to explain that he will never have vision again while a lump sat in my throat and trying my best for him not to hear me crying. This journey isn’t easy at all," she tweeted.

There is no denying that the family has been through the most, and Mzansi has continued to encourage and rally behind the couple at their darkest of times. They say a relationship is determined by how well you manage the hurdles and challenges, and this two have literally stood the test of time.

More love and joy to them as they begin on yet another decade together.
