Shannon Benting Makes Waves at Miss Supranational 2026 With Mom Power Message

It’s pageant week in Krakow, and Shannon Benting is already turning heads—though not because of a sash. The South African model and digital creator has been making headlines with a message that’s as bold as it is personal.

The 30-year-old, who was named Miss African Beauty Supranational South Africa 2026 in June, is in Poland ahead of the competition’s big date: the Miss Supranational 2026 final on 31 July. The event will take place at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheatre in Nowy Sącz.

During the international portion of the pageant, Benting stepped onto the stage and addressed South African mothers directly in a video that’s been shared online.

“I am honoured to be representing the bold and diverse South Africa. I am a model and a content creator, but my biggest and greatest achievement is being a mother. I am here to remind all women, especially mothers, that you can do it all, you can be it all, and you can have it all—with a child on your hip. Because we are entirely capable of carrying both a child and a dream,” she said.

She added, “Sometimes our greatest chapters are written when we embrace all that we are.”

This year’s message lands with extra weight. For the 2026 edition, Miss Supranational has opened up for the first time to mothers and divorced women—so long as they are not married—marking a notable shift after decades in which the pageant world largely preferred unmarried contestants without children.

Benting, who is from Northcliff in Johannesburg, has been candid about her own journey, saying this is her first time entering a pageant and joking that she walked in at “the ripe old age of 30.” She is set to take over the Miss Supranational South Africa crown from Lebohang Raputsoe, who will be passing the title as the country’s representative heads to the 17th edition of the event.

That global edition is expected to bring together contestants from more than 90 nations—making Benting’s platform even more visible as she heads toward the final.

Her win in June came with a theme she’s carried from the national stage to the international arena: what a woman’s background is—or what she’s had to juggle to reach this point—shouldn’t limit what she believes she can become.

South Africans will soon see how far that message resonates when Miss Supranational 2026 crowns its winner on 31 July. The handover will be led by the reigning titleholder, Eduarda Braum of Brazil.
