Since Cassper Nyovest and Naak Musiq's fight this past weekend, a lot of people have been interested in boxing, whether from an observer's perspective or being in the ring, ordinary people and celebrities alike have been weighing in on the trending topic.
Media personality Somizi Mhlongo is one of those who are determined to get in the ring, the Idols judge who has been consistently famous for more than three decades is one of Africa's most loved stars and he has managed to solidify himself in several spaces.
The star who started his career as a dancer has seamlessly transitioned from one career to another, under his belt, he has credits as a dancer, an actor, a choreographer, a musician, and a radio DJ.
Taking to Instagram, the star shared a video of himself after a workout but what stood out to us was what he said. In the video, the media personality expressed how he would like to spar with any celebrity opponent that is ready to take on the challenge.
"I am ready for the challenge, whoever is ready must tell me."
He then added that those who belong in the ring with him know themselves.
Somizi is not the only star who wants the smoke. After Cassper & Naak's fight on Saturday, Big Zulu took to the stage to announce that he too was ready for his own celebrity boxing match.
“I’m not that big to a point where I can’t find someone who wants to box me. I want someone who can come and box me,” he said.

In December 2021, Siv Ngesi challenged Big Zulu to a boxing match and Big Zulu denied his request.
Big Zulu then went on to tweet that he does not fight with women making jabs at Siv for his drag persona. Take a look at the interaction below:
Another star who wants her day in the boxing ring is Makhadzi. The superstar who has a catalog worth a lot of money took time out of her busy schedule to tweet about her desire of being in the boxing ring in 2021.
She asked her fans if it’s only males who are allowed to take part in these matches or can females also take part as she’s been wanting to 'teach' a certain someone a hard lesson.
“So is this boxing Boxing glove for males only or what? .. I have this 1 girl I need her on boxing ring before I can drop new songs. Good morning,” she wrote.
It seems as though Makhadzi has not found a willing opponent to fight, In December of the same year, the star and Gqom artist Babes Wodumo had a public spat after Babes accused her of being after her man (Mampintsha)
Taking to Twitter, Makhadzi denied the allegations and shut down any fans who suggested that she should box with Babes.
"Imagine my boyfriend hearing that iam trending for onother man! . Just Because someone want to to pull a stunt by mentioning my name . But I forgave her already. And also replyed to satisfy her," she wrote.
