Tbo Touch knows all about working your way up. The media personality and businessman, who now owns his own radio station, has had his fair share of rejection.
Touch recently took to Twitter to encourage his followers to never give up. He shared how he faced rejection in radio, before eventually getting his big break at Metro FM.
1997 I sent my demo 2 @Yfm in Bertrams, was turned down 5 times. In 99 the same at @HOT97 and 03 I got my first break at @METROFMSA #NeverGiveUp.”
Not giving up really worked in Touch’s favour. He soon became one of the biggest radio personalities in South Africa, and by the time he left Metro FM, he was earning about R200 000 a month. Touch made the revelation about his salary on Kaya FM last year.
“It was nice, it was a nice cheque,” he added.
Touch is now the proud owner of Touch HD, an online radio station with a great line-up of presenters including Glen Lewis, Thembisa Mdoda and Tim Modise.
Imagine if he had given up all those years ago? So don’t you dare give up, your glory days are on their way.
