By definition, a podcast is a series of digital audio files, usually released in episodes, that are made available to stream or download via the Internet. Most podcasts are usually free and listeners are able to subscribe to their favorite podcasts and can listen either online or offline. Podcasts are essentially a replacement for traditional radio stations playing the same boring content over and over again. Now, with a quick search and at the tap of a button, one can find and listen to whatever they are interested in - be it sports, news, stand-up comedy or daily rants.
People listen to podcasts for various reasons 74% of podcast listeners tune in to learn new things, whilst others listen regularly for entertainment, to keep up to date, to relax, or for inspiration. Whatever the reason, we can’t deny that the wave of podcasts is one of the best things to have happened to us.
Almost 50% of non-listeners say they don’t know where to find podcasts, so it attempts to help, we have compiled a list of some of our fav podcasts from Kenya that we definitely think everyone should listen to.
Legally Clueless
If you are a fan of storytelling then you will love this one. Starting off the list is the Legally Clueless Podcast hosted by former radio presenter, social activist and media personality, Adelle Onyango. On the podcast, Adelle documents her journey as an unapologetic African woman constantly evolving. She also hosts people from different backgrounds with different struggles to tell their authentic African stories of pain, perseverance, wins and losses all with the aim of encouraging and inspiring others who feel disadvantaged in life. Legally Clueless releases weekly episodes and can be found on all streaming platforms.
The Mics Are Open
If you are looking for something to keep you entertained then this is definitely the podcast for you. The Mics Are Open Podcast is hosted by three guys, G Money, Calvin and Andy Young and the content they deliver takes a slightly skewed look on life, love, platonic and romantic relationships and honestly everything in between. The guys never shy away from voicing their honest opinions all with a healthy dose of humor. The podcast has weekly episodes and can be found on any streaming platform.
Surviving Nairobi
Currently on it’s 5th Season, this podcast offers tips, tricks and stories on how to navigate and survive the concrete jungle that is Nairobi. If you are planning a trip to Kenya, specifically Nairobi, make sure to binge a few episodes of this podcast. Surviving Nairobi is hosted by Ivy and Hafare and their content covers everything Nairobi, the dos and don'ts, the when and the wheres, the whos and the whats.
Guy Code
This podcast is dedicated to the Kenyan man - or any man in this instance. It focuses on tackling and addressing the issues that men face in a society and offers solutions to the day to day struggles around parenting, finances and relationships.
