Thembisa Mdoda Replaces Top Actress

Actress Zandile Msuthwana has been injured on the set of Mzansi Magic telenovela The Queen. The actress who is popular for her character Vuyizwa on the show is reportedly booked off to recover at home.

According to Daily Sun, the statement released by Mzansi Magic states that producers of The Queen have found a replacement for Zandile as she can not carry on with her duties.

TV presenter and actress Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo will temporarily be taking over the Vuyiswa role.

We do not doubt that with Thembisa’s immense talent and skills, along with the support and guidance she has received from Msutwana, the character of Vuyiswa Maake will continue to steal the hearts of the viewers. We are very excited for Mdoda-Nxumalo and thankful to her for taking this gigantic challenge with so much grace. We wish Msutwana a speedy recovery and look forward to her return soonest, the statement read.”

She will debut her appearance on The Queen on 19 April this year.
Thembisa’s hard work has been paying off, she recently scored herself a role in a new Shomax original phycological thriller titled Dam, she stars alongside the like of Pallance Dladla, Natasha Loring, Faniswa Yisa, Siv Ngesi, and Hollywood star Neil Sandilands just to mention a few. Dam premiered in February this year, Speaking about the show then, she said: “It’s one of the most incredible production I’ve ever had the privilege of doing.”

She is also one of the many artists who have called out the Minister of the Arts and Culture Mthethwa on social media following the disappearance of the R300 million earmarked to be disbursed to artists during the pandemic. She said the minister must resign and hand himself over to the police.

Full details of Zandile’s injury are not disclosed.
Zandile has been with The Queen for almost four years. She joined the show back in 2017 when the show first premiered on Mzansi Magic playing a role of a tough detective Vuyiswa Maake.

Her acting career dates back to 2005 when she played the lead role on Unrequited Love. She has also starred on many South African hit shows such as Backstage, Mthunzini.com, Isidingo, Rhythm City and she also has a starring role as Lindiwe Cele, head of operations in the family business who is ambitious and regards herself as heiress of empire, in the Mzansi Magic soap opera Zabala.
