New e.TV drama series House of Zwide has taken South Africa by storm.

The show is only two weeks old, after it had to fill big shoes of its forerunner,  Rhythm City, and it seems to be delivering on its promise of keeping viewers glued to their screens so far.

The series is a rags-to-riches aspirational tale, embodied by the tagline: Your Dreams Are Valid, No Matter Your Age. It features amazing talent, including the much-loved villian, Vusi Kunene who plays the role of Funani Zwide; Khaya Dladla, Winnie Ntshaba, Jeffrey Seleka, Baby Cele, Lindani Nkosi, and a huge favourite, Nefisa Mkhabela, played by Onalerona 'Ona' Molapo.

The beauty has been getting a lot of love on social media since the show's inception. Viewers love her for her beauty and her acting skills.


Nefisa plays a young lady from a family that is not well off who goes to Rosebank chasing her dreams of becoming a designer. When she starts working at Zwide, she begins to connect with Sandile, a talented designer like herself and the have similar interests. Her biggest hindrance if Faith Zwide (played by Winnie Ntshaba) she is the wife of Funani Zwide and she hates Ona because she is a lot more talented than her children.

All hell breaks loose when the secret that Faith and Isaac were involved in her mother’s death starts emerging. Adding more fuel to the fire is the revelation that Funani’s children with Faith aren’t actually his, and for years Faith has been having an affair with the man she’s led everyone to believe is her brother. It also appears that Ona is Funani's love child.

Buy who is Ona, or better yet, Nefisa Mkhabela?

The talented actress, who is 20 years old is from Soweto in Gauteng. The languages she speaks are English and Sesotho.

The first time we were introduced to her was in the recurring role of Mbali on the 1Magic drama series Unmarried, which is by Ferguson Films. She first appeared in the series premiere which was in 2018. Two years later, when season two of the show hit our screens, she was back again to give life to her character.

The actress also played the lead role in a Mzansi Original Movie called Ispaza Sasekhaya this year in April. Nefisa attended Greenside High School where she excelled in cultural studies. She even obtained a Certificate of Excellence in Traditional Dance.

She is the niece of television and radio personality, Kedebone Mkhabela, who is currently a radio host on Rise FM.

When it comes to her faith, she is a praying woman. This is what she said about bagging her new role: “It was a shock more than anything when I got the email that I got the job. I just fell on my knees, cried and prayed."
