Things we learnt about Akhumzi Jezile at his funeral & memorial service

On Thursday, family, fellow celebrities and fans alike made their way to Randburg’s Rhema Bible Church to mourn the loss of Akhumzi Jezile’s life in addition to celebrating the man that was and the life he lived. 

A number of friends and family took to the stage to share a few anecdotes and memories of Jezile and this is what we learned about him as a result: 

1. He loved gospel music and often introduced a number of his friends to it 

2. He loved to gossip and used to jokingly threaten to reveal his friends’ secrets at their funerals 

3. He loved connecting people from different circles of his life – be it the church, his celebrity friends or his production colleagues 

4. He had dreams of becoming a media mogul and was a very hands-on actor, director, and producer in order to amass as much knowledge as he could to achieve his dream. 

Jezile touched the lives of many, and thanks to the SABC’s new Akhumzi Jezile Director Internship he will continue to do so by affording aspiring directors the opportunity to follow in his footsteps in honor of his memory.
