It seems as though dynamic duo, Amaroto, made up of The Real Zuma and Recee Madlisa, have split up. This comes after Reece Madlisa announced the release of his 5-track solo project, Kwaaito na ma Medi EP.

In a move nobody saw coming, Amaroto have apparently gone their separate ways. They have been friends since childhood and have made hits over the years. The Amapiano duo are most popular for their songs Umsebenzi Wethu, Megalo, Insimbi Zase Envy and Sithi Sithi, which is just about a few songs.

Fans grew concerned after rumours swirled that the members are at loggerheads and have decided to split. However, neither have addressed these claims. Instead, Reece Madlisa announcing his solo project made things worse.

Reacting to the news of their supposed split, Amaroto's label, Universal Music Group, said they are still together and will be releasing a project this year, but for now they have gone solo.

“The boys are still contracted to Amaroto Ent’ and will release an album later on this year, for now, solos will do,” Universal Music Group tells Zimoja.

Two months back they celebrated their song, Insimbi Yase Envy's success after it reached multi-platinum status.

"Angithi uReece wenzi imali. Siyabonga kakhulu to all the people who always support &buy our music" wrote Reece Madlisa.

They have amassed even more success after they won an award at the South African Music Awards, for the best duo/ group of the year for their second offering Amaroto Volume 2. They also took home an award for the Best Kwaito Album for the same album, Amoroto Volumne 2.

A group that did split up though is Black Motion, which saw Murdah Bongz leave the group and rebrand to Morda.

Word is, Morda was not told about Black Motion's newest member Kabelo “Problem Child Ten83” Koma who has already started working on new music with Black Motion. Morda told Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka on Kaya FM that he did not know about the new member, “I just found out on social media but I am meeting them tomorrow. Me, I was hurt but I still smile about it. I was busy travelling but I am meeting the guys. I‘m not on Twitter so I’m seeing screenshots. However, tomorrow we are meeting.”

The label, Spirit Motion, accused Morda of theft of music equipment to the value of R243 312,30.

“Spirit Motion would like to state in a record that Black Motion members Thabo Mabongwa aka Smol and Bongani Mahosana aka Murdahbongz have not parted ways. Black Motion still exists and has plans for more years to come.”

But a source alleged to Drum that Morda returned the equipment.

“He was supposed to return it, so it was bound to return. It is not like they are excited or over the moon, it didn’t belong to him in the first place. He didn’t bring the equipment himself, he sent someone to return it, but he kept the keyboard which they will demand to be returned as well. All they want is for him to apologise, there is no animosity whatsoever, they want to know what the reason behind all of this was,” said the source.
