Ayanda's parents broke up when the actress was only two years old. She has four sisters and they were all raised by their mother. Her mother was a nurse but she supplemented her income by selling cold drinks and tailoring dresses. Ayanda has previously spoken about helping her mother with the business.
There is nothing that she wouldn't do for her mother who has sacrificed so much in her life, just so that she could have it all. Ayanda and her family lived in several towns in Durban including, Ntuzuma, Shayamoya, Umlazi, and Kwa Mashu.
Among her four siblings, one is an engineer, while the other one is a qualified environmental health specialist. Lungi, her younger sister, is a graduate in politics. Although they share the last name, Ayanda Thabethe and Thando Thabethe are not related.

Ayanda and her sisters received a good education. She went to Sacred Heart Girls’ High School, an all-girls school, for her secondary school education. She then joined the University of Pretoria from where she graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Communication Management. In 2011, she received her Honours Marketing degree from the University of South Africa.
Ayanda is currently pursuing another qualification in education. She is undertaking Honours in Marketing at Henley Business School. Ayanda shared this good news in June 2021 on Instagram.
"My aim is to merge the worlds of digital disruption and traditional marketing methods in a quantifiable manner - I believe that this is where I’ll be able to add the most value in my future endeavours," she posted.

Ayanda has always had a passion for modelling, but her short stature always hindered her from pursuing that career line. However, her 1.6 m height did not stop her at all.

Tweeps went in on her and if there's one thing to know about the Beyhive it's to never upset the Queen because they will sting you bad.
