Growing up, Busiswa spent her early years under the care and guidance of her late mother and grandmother who were a great influence in shaping her strong personality.
Busiswa was introduced to the love of reading and poetry by her primary English teacher and this saw her perform at some poetry sessions to this day. Today she hosts the 1st Word Sessions which is a monthly poetry event held in Durban.
Her humble beginnings saw her even drop out of varsity and sadly at that time she had no one as her mom was gone. She found herself squatting at her friend's place as she had nowhere to go. She was doing all types of jobs she could lay her hands on just to get by.

Known to love music and poetry, Busiswa was spotted by beat makers at a poetry session and she then recorded a song, S'yaphambana , which was loved by many including Oskido.
Oskido reached out to Busiswa at the right time and wanted her in studio so that they could work together. This saw her move to Johannesburg and later Oskido signed her under Kalawa Jazmee Records.
In 2011, Busiswa got introduced to the wider South African music scene and the world on DJ Zinhle’s worldwide hit “My Name Is”.
The song was so popular she got invitations to perform in other countries such as Namibia, Zimbabwe and Angola. It was nominated for the Video of The Year and Most Gifted Dance awards during the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards. It was also nominated for the Record of the Year award at the South African Music Awards.
In 2013, she released the song, Ngoku, which was well received by fans and she performed the hit on Club 808 on E!TV alongside Oskido as a way of promoting the song. The song also earned the Most Gifted Dance award at the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards in 2014.
2015 saw the songstress release Lahla which featured DJ Bucks and Uhuru. She performed the hit at the Metro FM Awards that same year. She released her debut album Highly Flavoured in 2017 and Bazoyenza was the lead single of the album. The album was nominated for the Best Kwaito Album award at the South Africa Music Awards. She was also nominated for the Best Female Artist award at the same award show. That year, she featured in Isichathulo by Tipcee and Vuvushka by DJ Maphorisa.
She released Summer Life, the second album, on the 12th of November 2018 and early that year she had released, Banomoya a hit by Prince Kaybee that featured TNS. The album was an independent release under her new label, Busiswa Entertainment.
Busiswa became the talk of the town in 2019 after she scooped the biggest collaboration of her career; a feature on Beyonce’s song My Power, alongside another South African artist, Moonchild Sanelly.
The two made history by becoming the first musicians from Mzansi to collaborate with Queen Bey after putting their stamp on her African-inspired record, The Lion King: The Gift. Busiswa also got a nomination for the Best Dance Album award at the 25th SAMAs for her album, Summer Life.

Busiswa is very private when it comes to her love life and it is only in 2018 that she finally revealed her bae. The artist was dating Katlego Mlangeni aka DJ Kaygee with whom they welcomed their son in early 2018 Lakhanya Gqulu.
The two seemed to be very much in love till Kaygee allegedly laid hands on Busiswa.

It was late last year that the Midnight starring hit maker was allegedly beaten up by her ex boyfriend and baby daddy, Dj Kaygee The Vibe. Busiswa's friend, who goes by the name @MercWorldWide on social media was responsible for airing the whole ordeal to the public in a Twitter thread.
Busiswa was apparently opening up to him how she has been living a life of being abused by her baby daddy when DJ Kaygee stormed into her apartment and all hell broke loose. Sadly, Marc also got tangled in the whole ordeal and was injured along with his vehicle being damaged.
