Not too long ago, Khanya Mkangisa, Hulisani Ravele and Selae Thobakgale were on our TV screens as teenagers on YoTV.
Remember when Enhle Mbali was a young actress on SABC1’s Tshisa? How about when we were introduced to Rihanna with her smash single Pon de Replay? Oh, those were the good ‘ol days. All these stars turned the big 3-0 in 2018 and we just cannot believe it! Check out how they celebrated this huge milestone.
Khanya Mkangisa
Life seems to get better once you turn 30. Just look at Khanya Mkhangisa who is out there living her best life! The actress turned 30 this year and she still looks as beautiful as ever.
On her birthday, she shared an image of herself on the ‘gram with the caption: “God has been generous and blessed me with a life that He curated specifically for me. Even the lows were all part of His great plan and I look forward to all the abundant blessings He still has in store for me, it’s only the beginning.”
She also received a message from her bestie, Boity, who posted some throwback images on Twitter with the caption: “I love you so much! May you continue to be the loving light that you are in our lives! Have the best 21st birthday and may #30 be the beginning of your journey of ultimate fulfilment, self-love and enlightenment!”
Hulisani Ravele
The TV and radio presenter celebrated 30 in a big way. To make this milestone extra special, Hulisani shared a series of images on her Instagram page.
In the project titled ’30 Portraits & Poetry’, the former child star shared 30 images reflecting emotions of what 30 years of life experience has brought her. “Each portrait will be narrated with poetry written by talented writer Sizakele Phohleli, @her_mentality, in a collection she coined ‘Blues for Hulisani’, she wrote on Instagram.
Some of the emotions she reflected on include rejection, wisdom, peace, fear, disappointment, heartbreak and joy.
The birthday celebrations continued as Hulisani also went on a trip to Mauritius with her mother.
She shared a snap with her mother on Twitter with the caption: “A mother. A daughter. One turned 60. The other 30. One said she didn’t want a party, she wanted to go on her 1st international trip. She wanted to go to Mauritius. The other obliged. And so the adventure begin.”

In an interview with Arye Kellman on CliffCentral earlier this year, the seasoned TV presenter said her mindset for 2018 is “do it”. “I’m a very confident person and I’m confident in my dreams and the things I want to do. But sometimes I lack that push in myself of ‘just go’. Because I’m a perfectionist I like everything to be in place before I start… But I have slowly learnt that sometimes you have to start small and start where you are, and then it will grow into what you want it to be.”
Selae Thobakgale
Another YoTV alumni is on the list. How is it that time has flown by so quickly? Selae, who is no longer in the limelight, celebrated the big 3-0 with her close friends and family.
She shared some snaps on Instagram with the caption: the night that was! Celebrating my birthday “month” with amazing friends and family! 30! Let’s go.”
Enhle Mbali Maphumulo
For her 30th birthday in March, Enhle Mbali Maphumulo had a 90’s themed ‘dirty 30s’ party which was attended by her loved ones.
When asked what she’s looking forward to as she enters her 30s, Enhle told Cosmopolitan magazine: “Living life in the ‘I don’t care lane’ and rather caring about the things that actually matter.” When it comes to what she hopes to learn in her 30s, the businesswoman told the publication: “I have no expectations as I’ve learned that disappointments are born that way, so I’m taking it as it comes.”
She signed off with her popular hashtags. “I’m going to #SimplyLive, #SimplyLove the #SimplyEnhle way.”
