Who was Emtee’s manager and what happened to him?
Lebo Maswanganyi better known as Lebo ATM was the name of Emtee’s manager and long-time friend. He was an artists’ manager at Emtee Records and the co-founder of ATM ( Artists Management company).
He passed away in the early morning of the 27th of April 2021. Although the real course of Emtee’s manager was not revealed to the public, a few tabloids speculated that the young talent manager had taken his life by taking an overdose of drugs. They also alleged that Lebo ATM had been with Emtee when he died.
The speculations were dismissed and condemned by Emtee through an official statement issued by Emtee Records. The statement confirmed Lebo Maswanganyi’s death and also denied and condemned the rumours circulating about the time and place of Lebo Maswanganyi’s death and asked members of the public to wait for Lebo ATM’s family to issue a formal statement.
Besides being Emtee’s manager and the manager for other gifted artists at Emtee Records, Lebo ATM was also a father of two children named- Sage and Finesse. He loved his children and their mother dearly and often shared their photos on his social media accounts.
Emtee’s career and rise to the top
Emtee, real name Mthembeni Ndevu was born on the 15th of September 1992 in Matatiele, Eastern Cape. His family moved to Johannesburg to look for greener pastures and they ended up living in Rockville, Soweto.
From a young age, Emtee showed an interest in music and participated in school talent shows. He won his first talent show when he was just 9 years old.
When he was 17, Emtee joined the famous Marimba Band where he was able to win several cash prizes and inter-provincial competitions.
He collaborated with rapper Maraza to release the single- In It to Win It, in 2010 then in 2015, he embarked on a solo music career after being signed by Ambitiouz Entertainment and releasing his debut single- Roll Up. The single was an instant success and was certified platinum by RISA.
Since launching his music career, Emtee has consistently released good music which has helped him to win multiple awards and attract millions of fans.
In 2019, Emtee left Ambitiouz Entertainment to start his own label record called Emtee Records under his company The African Trap Movement.
In addition to his music career, Emtee has also established himself as a serious businessman with investments in the fashion industry. He owns a brand of sneakers called Emtee Sneakers and he also sells branded apparel like t-shirts and caps through his social media platforms.
