This comes off the back of his win at the Global Music Awards recently. He walked away with the Global Record of the Year Award. Just the other day, during her documentary on CNN Africa Voices Change Makers, Makhadzi gave a special shoutout to master KG for helping her reach her dream.
“I met Master KG. We did very nice music and then he pushed me hard and told me not to go back to that journey because the market of that music is limited. And he is the only person who pushed me and told me to stick to my language. You must not change your language, just sing in Venda.” Said Makhadzi in part.
Chatting about the success of Jerusalema to eNCA, Master KG revealed that he sometimes feels emotional.
“It’s so amazing. Like to see those families enjoying this dance at home. Dancing together, from kids to their parents. Like everybody. It’s so nice to see. Sometimes I feel emotional when I’m seeing everybody showing love to this dance. It’s so beautiful to see,” he said.
“There was a video actually, that I saw these other guys doing on the internet. I think they are from Angola. The dance originated from here in SA. But then there’s a video that went viral from these guys from Angola. From there, that video was just everywhere from there everyone just started following that video and doing that dance. After that I see everyone in the world doing it.”
Adding on to Master KG’s words, Nomcebo revealed that Jerusalema was an answer to her prayers.
“I feel blessed. Every day when I wake up I feel like pinching myself. Is it real? What’s going on? ‘ve been praying for such a song and I think God heard me and has answered my prayers.”
