According to a report by City Press, Mbalenhle welcomed her baby, but three months ago. The publication reported that Mbalenhle was lying low to take care of her baby.
It was reported that the father of her child is a wealthy Johannesburg businessman.
“Yes, she had a baby, but I am not the father. The father is well known, but I am not the father. The father is in the [entertainment] industry as well. He is a celebrity. She is a friend of mine," said a source.
“I am not a celebrity, and I would not want things like this written about me. I just called her after we spoke earlier to ask her if she knows why people are saying I am the father of her child … She is currently in hospital with the baby, and they are both fine. Everyone in the industry knows her boyfriend. I am just a friend,” the businessman alleged.
After Phil Mphela reported that the actress would not be appearing in The Wife's third season, speculation mounted that she was pregnant. “The Wife without Mbali will be a tad strange because she really dazzled in this role. The move could also be temporary, should they get more seasons. If they don’t recast in her absence, I would want to see her return," reported Mphela.
However, Showmax has announced that Mavimbela is still part of the family. With major changes expected when the show returns in November, Mbalenhle will have a new on-screen hubby played by Wiseman Mncube who takes over from Bonko Khoza.
In a statement shared by the production house, Wiseman said he is a fan of both the book and the series, “What actor wouldn’t want to be part of The Wife? Mqhele is a very interesting role and I’m in my element: there’s a lot to chew on and play off, from the love story to the anger to the care. uBonko carried the role with so much respect and power. I’m not here to replace Bonko but to start my own journey as Mqhele and take things from where he left off and run with it in my own way.”
