South African superstar Minnie Dlamini-Jones was destined for fame.  She was barely out of diapers when she started showing her star qualities.

She has since been a mainstay in the country's entertainment industry for years. Her key to longevity in the industry is to constantly reinvent herself.  In 2019 she told City Press that she was grateful for her longevity and success. 

She added: "Every year, I have reinvented myself because, as a TV personality, you always worry about your relevance and when your next gig is going to come along,”

Minnie Dlamini Birthday 


On July 7, 1990, Queen and Jabulani Dlamini welcomed a daughter by the name Minenhle Dlamini. She was later nicknamed Minnie by family members and it's safe to say that the name stuck. She and her brother Khosini Dlamini both grew up in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
 

Meet Minnie Dlamini


Minnie is a multi-faceted entertainer. She wears the many hats of TV presenter, actress, model,  MC, and businesswoman.

The star began acting at the tender age of three years. When she got older she went on to study film and media, drama at the University of Cape Town.

She got her big break in 2010. This was the year Minnie won a spot on SABC 1’s music show, LIVE. Minnie has hosted several other shows since then, including:

  • Mzansi Insider 
  • SoccerZone.

As an actress, she has appeared in two popular local soapies, The Wild and Rockville.

Minnie Dlamini and Itumeleng Khune  


At the time they were dating, Minnie Dlamini and Itumeleng ‘Itu’ Khune were one of South Africa’s favorite celebrity couples.

Khune, The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, was so smitten with the Durban beauty several publications claimed he paid R1 million lobola to marry her. Minnie however, would later deny the report.
 
Due to cheating allegations, Minnie dumped Itu Khune. Everyone's favorite celebrity couple broke up in 2014.  

Minnie told Anele Mdoda on Real Talk in 2016 that: “I was happy when it was good. It was the kind of relationship I didn’t see ending. I did see myself marrying him”.

Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones 


In 2016, Minnie Dlamini and Quinton Jones went public with their relationship. The two, who first met when Minnie moved to Johannesburg, had managed to keep their relationship a secret for two years.

They worked at Urban Brew Studios together. The two were both in relationships at the time but became good friends. 

It took a year of convincing before Quinton could get Minnie to go out with him. The actress even went on record stating that she found the idea of them dating “weird”.

Minnie told the Sunday Times, in 2016, that: “We are constantly laughing and making fun of each other but at the end of the day, wig off and no makeup, he still looks at me like I'm the most beautiful girl in the world". 

Minnie Dlamini-Jones Engaged, Fiancé


The two went public when Minnie introduced her fans to Quinton by announcing their engagement in 2016. The announcement was made a few weeks before Christmas. 

It was during an episode of The Real Goboza in 2017, that Minnie revealed how her fiancé proposed. Recounting the event, Minnie said that they drove to a bush lake and at sunset, Quinton asked her to pour him a glass of champagne. Upon turning around he was on one knee.

She added that: “I was a bit shocked for a while, I could not believe it. He has this tendency, every time he buys me jewelry, he goes on one knee and asks me to marry him, so I thought it was a joke, but it wasn’t, he was serious, I started crying and eventually said yes”.  


Minnie Dlamini-Jones Wedding Ring 


South African jewelry designer, Jenna Clifford designed Minnie’s wedding ring. The designer pointed out that  Minnie’s 18ct rose-gold, diamond, and pink Morganite fine jewelry ring “was influenced by Minnie’s heart”. 

It was the same designer who also put together Minnie’s engagement ring. The beautiful ring was a 13-carat handcrafted white gold engagement ring.

It was pointed out that the ring: “symbolizes the couple’s love, passion, beauty, and its' value cannot be weighed on money alone”. 

In 2018 however, Minnie’s wedding ring was reportedly stolen. The story goes that the star was waiting at a robot with her husband when a thug attacked them.

The thief forced the lovely couple to open their car window before making off with their phones, wallets, and her ring. The valuables stolen were reportedly worth R250 000. Thankfully though, Minnie's ring was insured.

Minnie Dlamini-Jones Wedding 


The couple held their traditional wedding in Durban in July 2017. Minnie invited her nearest and dearest famous friends to her umembeso. Jessica Nkosi, Anele Mdoda, Basetsana Khumalo, and Nandi Madida were among the stars who attended. 

“I’m honestly the happiest human alive right now. Being around so much love is humbling,” Minnie wrote on Twitter after the wedding.


Minnie Dlamini-Jones White Wedding 


Minnie and Quinton Jones chose September 2017 to celebrated their white wedding. The ceremony, which reportedly cost more than R1 million, was held at the Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West, Cape Town. 

TV crews were on hand to document the nuptials for a three-part special called Becoming Mrs. Jones. The show broke rating records.

Minnie Dlamini’s wedding dress was created by the designer to the stars, Gert-Johan Coetzee.  

"Still in love with our very own princess @minniedlamini's wedding," Gert captioned a picture with the bride one year after the wedding.

Quinton Jones is more than just Minnie Dlamini’s husband, he is a cameraman, TV producer and businessman. The couple, are business partners as they started their own production company dubbed, Beautiful Day.

Before he started dating Minnie, Quinton was linked to Pearl Thusi, another famous actress.


Minnie Dlamini -Jones Pregnancy Rumours 


Minnie Dlamini had been plagued by pregnancy rumors, since tying the knot. Her loving fans were constantly speculating whether she was pregnant, especially when she picked up a bit of weight. 

The star often laughs off the rumors, and once told a Twitter user that she was “just fat”. But the presenter had enough of the baby talk in February 2019 when she begged her followers to stop asking when she is having a child.

“Let’s trust in God’s timing for the arrival of my offspring 🙏🏾 We also need to be cognizant of how insensitive it is to speculate about pregnancy. You don’t know my journey or what I’ve been through or go through. Let’s just think before we tweet please,” she tweeted.

Minnie had been approached by TV producers who offered her a pregnancy reality show.

Minnie
broke the news of her pregnancy with the release of what seemed to be the first of many snaps from her maternity shoot. 

The star shared her first maternity image with fans on Instagram. She called upon wedding dress designer, Asanda Madyibi, to design her dress. Asanda Madyibi is the same designer that dressed her for her traditional wedding.

The image of Minnie dressed in a statement mermaid boob-tube dress was an ode to her African roots.


Minnie announced her pregnancy on the same day as her husband's birthday. 

The star suggested that their unborn child is welcomed news to her family considering the tragic passing of her brother back in 2019. 


Minnie Dlamini-Jones Divorce Rumours


A tabloid newspaper claimed in 2018 that Minnie and her husband Quinton were on the verge of divorce. The paper claimed the couple was seen arguing at Cape Town International Airport. 

Minnie slammed the rumors on Twitter. “First I’m getting divorced then I’m fighting in public with my husband Mrs. Jones ain’t going anywhere no matter what lies you try to spread," she tweeted.

The star's style has inspired many a Matric Dance dress. Her many red carpet looks are often amazing from head to toe. Although some of Minnie's dresses have been a bit hit and a miss, she enjoys taking fashion risks.

Minne Dlamini’s late brother Khosini Dlamini died in the month of September 2019 at the age of 29. He had spent weeks in ICU after reportedly suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm. 

The two siblings were very close, with Khosini often taking time to praise his sister on Instagram.

Minnie broke her silence a few days after he passed away.

“‘It doesn't get easier, you just learn to live with it.’ I don't know what that means yet, but I'll let you know,” she wrote.

Minnie celebrated her father's birthday in 2021 by noting that she got to know true love in its purest form from him.
